Does it hurt? Can I be waxed on my period? What is hot wax? And many more questions below.
Please reach me at emily@thewaxingco.co.uk if you cannot find an answer to your question.
Waxing is the removal of the hair from the follicle using either a warm wax with strips or a stripless wax that sets hard and is peelable.
There are 3 stages to the hair growth cycle, this means your hairs will grow at different rates.
At the Waxing Co. I recommend you leave at least 21 days since your last shave or hair removal cream use and at least 28 days since your last waxing treatment or epilation.
If you are new to waxing you will get some regrowth sooner than you might like this is due to the different growth cycles, by your third wax this should fall into line.
Peelable wax sets hard and encases the hairs, it also doesn't adhere to the skin it is therefore great for intimate areas, sensitive skin and coarse hair.
Strip wax is great for larger areas where the skin is less sensitive.
At The Waxing Co. Ltd. I only use peelable wax for intimate waxing, i believe this provides a more comfortable and smoother wax.
Of course how often you come is up to you, if you only wanting waxing for holidays and special occasions then I am here for you. I would recommend a minimum of 4 weeks between waxes but 5-6 weeks may be better dependant on your regrowth.
Pain is very individual. Though being waxed should not be painful as such…...yes it will be uncomfortable and each persons experience will be different. I personally feel having my legs done is more uncomfortable than having a Brazilian or Hollywood, again this is individual. The first time is the worst but it does get easier. The worry of pain shouldn’t put you off as any discomfort you do feel is very short lived and does not follow you out of the waxing room. At The Waxing Co. Ltd I only use stripless wax for intimate areas which I feel is far superior and provides a much more comfortable wax in this area.
Factors such as your menstrual cycle, being hungover and stress can all affect sensitivity.
The decision is yours providing you are comfortable wearing a tampon or moon cup. I just ask that you tuck the string out of the way.
Some ladies are more sensitive around their period and may feel more discomfort. If you prefer not to come on your period please avoid booking around this time.
Absolutely. Some people prefer to avoid the first trimester and if you have had previous complications I would advise waiting. Due to hormone fluctuations some ladies are more sensitive during pregnancy.
There isn't much preparation to do, exfoliating and moisturising a few days before your wax will help prevent ingrown hairs (ideally twice a week afterwards).
I ask that you please wash/shower before your intimate waxing treatment where possible, if this is not possible please make use of the water wipes in the toilet prior to your treatment. There are some compostable bags with these please do not throw them in the toilet.
The first time is always the most daunting once this is out of the way the next time won't feel nearly as bad. Please be reassured that you are normal!
I always start my intimate waxing with the buttocks and gluteal cleft. The best position for this Is to kneel down, knees parted then lean forward and drop down onto your elbows. I then sanitise the skin to get rid of any skin bacteria before application and removal of the wax. The wax is hard setting it usually sets very quickly but can take longer if the weather if hot. Once all the hair is gone ill apply a little bit of oil or soothing lotion.
Time to flip over onto your back, bend your knees with your feet together let your knees flop out to the side. The process is then repeated and you are then done.

Erections happen during intimate waxing as they are an automatic response within the nervous system in response to stimulus. Should your erection rear its head it will be ignored and I will continue your treatment as planned.
Not everyone can be waxed.
You can providing you aren't having a current flare. It is worth noting any trauma including waxing can flare up these conditions. It may be worth talking to your GP regarding this if you are keen to be waxed as suppression may be prescribed.
